The New Captain Underpants Collection (Books 1-5) by Dav Pilkey is I picked these for my cousin as a christmas gift because I loved LOVED this series growing up. I thought it was hilarious and was captivating to my 8 year old self. He seemed to be a little bummed to get books for christmas, ( I know, I'm horrible) but I thought he would really like them once he started reading them. Great books for kids who aren't that into reading because its pure entertainment with some words and lots of pictures. The New Captain Underpants Collection (Books 1-5) by Dav Pilkey is My five year old grandson and I loved the Captain Underpants movie. I guess we are both silly!! I bought him these books because, as an educator for 30 years, I don't care what kids read as long as they read. He can't read well yet, but he loves when I read these to him. He is not interested in the high falutin feel good books his Mom buys him (you know, the ones with a moral or message). Captain Underpants has his interest!! Whatever it takes, because reading is awesome!!!

We used them to help her develop her reading and it makes a big difference when the stories are so good she wont put the books down. I'd suggest these for any parent who's trying to get their kids to read and advance their ability into easier chapter books. This is a great transition from simple picture books that keeps their interest. Ive bought the entire series and now she's reading much better and developing more everyday. thaks dav pilkey for making reading easy for my kid!!
The New Captain Underpants Collection (Books 1-5) by Dav Pilkey is My 8 year old son absolutely loves these books. My son does very well in school, but the one area he lacks is in reading comprehension and simply paying attention while reading. He's so used to all the flashy screens and games we have now that reading bores him most of the time. These books changed all that for him and he finds the humor in them hilarious, and it is honestly pretty entertaining even to me sometimes. He comes home from school now and he WANTS to read his books and do his daily reading comprehension homework.These books for whatever reason really grabbed my sons interest and they have helped him tremendously with his reading. The books obviously didn't do the work for him, but they gave him that spark and interest that he needed. I highly recommend them to anyone with kids in his age range, even if they already love reading they are sure like them!And as always, if Amazon knows how to do anything it's books, and the price is right.
